The Sur Jyotsna Music Awards Ceremony has been conducted on March 22, 2015 in Nagpur. The award will be presented to two of the most promising artists in the memory of Jyotsana Darda, a director of Lokmat Media and President of Lokmat Sakhi Manch. The award comprised of a symbolic trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh which has been conferred upon to each of the winners.
The ceremony has been attended by Union Minister for Shipping and Road Transport Nitin Gadkari, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Power and Coal, Pityush Goyal and Rajya Sabha MP and Senior NCP Leader Praful Patel along with the Director of Lokmat Media. There were talks that Bollywood Actor John Abraham, singers Hariharan, Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonali Rathod will also grace the occasion. There have been performances by stalwarts like Roop Kumar Rathod and Shankar Mahadevan.
Praful Patel being one of the important members of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has always been a true connoisseur of the art and culture. NCP is one of those political parties of India who has always taken an analytic role in terms of the development of the nation in every aspect. It has been a major trend nowadays that the politicians too want to take part in the recreational programmes, taking a time off from their busy and hectic schedule in politics. Ministers like Praful Patel and Sharad Pawar have been ardent fans of music. The districts of Gondia and Bhandara being the Praful Patel constituency have embraced the boon of development initiated by the man himself.
