Patel to make ISL the tournament of the SAFF Region

Indian Super League undoubtedly remained one of the most overwhelming tournaments in the year 2014. With the first edition being launched, the tournament has pulled a huge number of crowds from all parts of the nation. All India Football Federation (AIFF) surely holds a lion’s share of the pie in making this tournament a grand success.

AIFF President Praful Patel advocated the idea of making ISL a ‘Tournament for the Region.’ Mr. Patel has been one of the panellists in the 3rd International Convention on Football Business at the FICCI House. Referring to the Hero Indian Super League in the panel discussion ‘Football on SAARC’ teaming the SAARC Football, Football in South Asia. Mr. Patel stated, “The ISL is a Tournament of India. But I want it to be the Tournament of the SAFF region. Mamunul, the Bangladesh National Team Captain was a part of the triumphant Atletico de Kolkata in inaugural edition of the Hero Indian Super League while Haroon Fakhruddin, the National Team Captain of Afghanistan was one of the key Players for FC Goa.”

The numbers can increase in the coming years, as expected by Patel. Patel’s initiatives have been largely complemented by Mr. Dasho Ugyen Dorji, President of Bhutan Football Federation, admitted that the Football scenario in the SAFF region would transform with the ‘emergence of the Hero Indian Super League.’ The interest that has been generated will help Football to grow in the region which will benefit too. Patel recollected that the planning stage of the Indian Super League (ISL) where everyone doubted the decision of All India Football Federation (AIFF). Praful Patel contributions have been the most relevant and integral factors which have propelled the success of ISL. 

Patel said that there have been a lot scepticism and criticism regarding ISL but it paved to be a new direction to Indian Football. ISL has been successful in adding much fillip and boost to Indian Football. It is important for the sport to improve and to enhance the standard of the competition in the most professional manner.

The AFC Medical Conference gets postponed

The Medical Conference of the Asian football has been postponed for a while. The decision was based upon the recommendation of the AFC Medical Committee and subsequent to the consultation with the relevant authorities as well as FIFA. The AFC has become much cautious with the continuous rise in the number of individuals affected by swine flu. The federation has recorded more than 25, 000 cases and in excess of 1300 reported deaths. It has been said that the unrecorded cases should surpass that figure and the United Arab Emirates has become the first country to advise its citizens to postpone their visit to India. 

Dato Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Chairman, AFC Medical Committee and Organizing Committee of the 5th AFC Medical Conference asserted that the AFC is concerned with the risk of exposure and safety of its delegates participating in the conference. The decision, according to Singh, was not an easy decision to make keeping in mind the huge effort put into its organization, its financial implications and disruption in travel and so on. Multiple experts are travelling to the conference has expressed their concerns and supported AFC’s action by echoing that prevention and safety is important. All India Football Federation (AIFF) launched a tournament of its own kind with the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). With the joint efforts of IMG – Reliance and Star TV, the tournament created quite a stir amongst the football fans not only in India but also in different parts of the world. With the participation of top players like Luis Garcia, Alessandro Del Pierro and Robert Pires, the tournament received an overwhelming response all across the nation.

AIFF President Praful Patel recently announced in the 3rdInternational Convention on Football Business at the FICCI House that he wants to make Indian Super League a tournament of the SAFF Region. Patel also shared some of the anecdotes when the ISL was originally conceptualized and how AIFF faced a stream of criticism and skeptical attitude taking a wrong decision. AIFF was highly criticized for taking an off route from the conventional method. But Patel stressed that ISL was a much needed tournament for the Indian Football to give the sport a new direction in India.

According to AIFF President, ISL gave the much needed fillip, impetus and boost to Indian Football. In ISL, the average attendance was around 25000 while in IPL it stays at 29000. The level of the competition, according to Patel, needs to be changed and everyone needs to concentrate on building the National Team.

Celebration of 109th Birth Anniversary of Shri Manoharbhai Patel

It was a pompous and an inspiring day for Gondia Education Society as the institute celebrated the 109th Birth Anniversary of Shri Manoharbhai Patel. The event was mainly organized with the purpose to felicitate the bright and the meritorious candidates from the institute. The ceremony became even more special with the presence of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, film director Rajkumar Hirani and lyricist Prasoon Joshi.

Senior NCP Leader Praful Patel was the main organizer of the event as he is the son of Late Manoharbhai Patel. Patel himself volunteered the entire event from welcoming the guests of honour to awarding the students. He addressed the audience speaking about the contributions of his father towards the district and his dedication to spread education among the common mass. Sachin Tendulkar himself addressed the audience and expressed his delight for being a part of the event. 

Manoharbhai Patel left a glorious legacy of reforms in the districts of Gondia and Bhandara. He wanted these backward regions of Vidharbha Region to grow and prosper so that the innocent people in these two districts can become self-reliant and can make a life for themselves. Praful Patel contributions in carrying out his father’s legacy surely cannot be denied as under him the education society got national acclaim. Today students from all across India are coming here and studying multiple disciplines in both technical and non-technical field. The event generated a message of motivation and positivity among the students of the Education society who are being encouraged to build a strong message.

Women Football is about to begin a new era

All India Football Federation (AIFF) is all set to professionalise every aspect of Indian Football. Be it grassroots programme or working in training young players. Similarly the federation is also taking instrumental initiatives in reshaping the women’s national team along with producing more and more young women through series of grassroots program. 

With the launch of Strategic Planning, AIFF President Praful Patel said that a special focus has been given to improve the standard of women’s football as this would mean a complete developmental approach for the Indian Football. Kushal Das, General Secretary of AIFF had said that there are many avenues which need to be focused on and measures should be taken to convince the stakeholders regarding the potential of women’s football in India. There is a strong need of a well-built infrastructure and a financial support which might change the entire look of the women’s team. On top of that proper social awareness and respect for the women’s game need to be created.
