Kochi hosts Grassroots Session

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) recently conducted one of its informative three-day Grassroots Football Session in Kochi, Kerala from April 9 – 11, 2015. The session has been organized by Kerala Blasters who played a crucial role in the much hyped Indian Super League (ISL). 

The session has been attended by 41 candidates, from the State of Kerala, who have participated in this Session under AIFF’s Technical Director Academies and Coach Education, Scott O Donell. This grassroots festival ended with 100 kids participating in various footballing activities.

The grassroots programmes have proven to be highly effective for the aspiring footballers of the nation who are willing to pursue the sport as their career options. Praful Patel’s role as the AIFF President has been quite important as he has been motivating the sport to be professionalized and popularized in the country and on a global platform. According to Patel, the standard of the sports can only be raised if it is refurbished from the very elemental level. The endeavours of the officials pertaining to the progress of Indian Football remain inimitable as the sport is taking a great pace with the first session of Indian Super League (ISL) which has perceptibly changed the face of Indian Football.

Sub Junior Girls’ Championship to be held in Odisha

Indian Women’s Football is getting much boost these days as All India Football Federation (AIFF) has made concrete strategies to uplift the standards of the women’s sports in India. It has been announced that The Football Association of Odisha will be launching the U-15 Sub Junior’s Girls’ Championship 2015 – 16 from May 8, 2015 to May 22, 2015 in Cuttack. 

There may be changes in terms of dates or venues due to certain unavoidable conditions which can be communicated to all the participating Associations immediately. The eligibility of the players stays between January 1, 2001 and December 31, 2003.

In the recently launched Strategic Planning 2014 – 2017 of AIFF, special focus has been given to women’s football and its prosper in India. Praful Patel profile as the AIFF President has made remarkable contributions behind the professionalization of the sports in an all-pervasive manner. According to him, the total progress of the sport cannot be possible if the women’s team does not get their due respect and honour. General Secretary of AIFF Kushal Das had announced that the federation is trying to organize a tournament like Indian Super League (ISL) for women which will derive wide international exposure and will also make the Women’s Football more and more popular all across the world.

Besides, Patel had also talked about the enhancement of the women’s team while AIFF had signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japan Football Federation (JFF) in pursuit to increase the cooperation of Indian football and also to refine the relationship between the two countries. This is a historical agreement which has proved to highly beneficial for the Indian Football in terms of sharing ideas, concepts and methods to redefine the course of the sport. This memorandum also included provision for the improvement of the women’s football and giving it a substantial shape in international arena.

Mohun Bagan maintains a supreme position in the Hero I-League table

Hero I-League still is creating quite a rave among the football fans since it has been regarded as the premium football tournament. Presently McDowell Mohun Bagan has reached the top position in I-League beating Dempo by 2-0 at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan. The match started with Green Maroon brigade going for a jugular, especially with young Shehnaj Singh and Souvik Chakraborty dominating the proceedings in the center of the park. The game was relatively devoid of the chances at the opening hour, despite the one sided dominance.
