AIFF to push for Indian origin foreign players in the national team

The All India Football Federation is all set to push for Indian origin foreign players in the national team. After the embarrassing defeat to Guam in the World Cup qualifying campaign, a plan has been set to approach the sports ministry in this regard. Currently, India has a different policy altogether on Indian origin players which needs to be revised in order to include new faces in the team.  The sports ministry needs to be convinced in this regard to alternate their plan.  As per the version of the current national coach Stephen Constantine, the issue regarding the inclusion of foreign players has been discussed.

As per a senior official from the All India Football Federation, the issue has taken quite a serious dimension after the loss of the national team to Guam.  Stephen Constantine has elaborated on the same as the composition of the rival teams is changing by the day. The experience of the foreign players in playing at the competitive foreign leagues certainly acts as an additional advantage In the AFC Cup, India had beaten Guam convincingly with a 4-0 margin but this time around the tables have turned quite a bit.

In the team which was fielded against India, Guam had 7 players of American origin in the line up. The Guam team performed quite well against India and convincingly beat them. As per the heritage rule which is approved by FIFA, players of foreign origin can be taken in an international team. The President of the All India Football Federation minister Praful Patel has taken several measures for the development of the sport in the country. The neighboring countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan have fielded foreign players in the past too. For more on Praful Patel news, you can log on to his social media pages on Facebook and Twitter.
