U-17 World Cup’s special committee to be held in Bangalore

A special committee will be set up in regards to U-17 FIFA World Cup which will focus and discuss on India’s strategy on the technical front for youth competition. With India all set to participate in the Under – 17 World Cup 2017 as the host nation, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has set up a technical committee. The committee will comprise the legendary Bhaichung Bhutia who also serves as the chairman of the technical committee. He is also one of the most recognisable faces in Indian Football.

Derrick Pereira, who is considered highly in Indian Football platform, has created great success story in various ventures viz. Pune FC and Mahindra United in the top division, is also part of the committee. India skipper Sunil Chhetri is the last name on the list and he is expected to bring his expertise to the team. Indian coach Wim Koevermans, technical director Robert Baan and AIFF general secretary Kushal Das are to be important figures on the 19th of this month.


The organisation has set up this special technical committee on the recommendation of AIFF President Praful Patel. Patel has been asked to advice on the technical structure of the team. The tournament has been scheduled in the year 2017 and is expected to create a strong ground work for the Indian players to compete on an international platform.

AIFF, with Praful Patel contributions, has gained wide repute recently with the various accolades from Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for its impartial and unbiased approach towards issuing licence to the clubs. Moreover, its effort has been largely applauded for their method of professionalising football in India. The efforts of the organisation are making Indian football take giant strides.
