Bengaluru makes way for soccer schools in the city

AIFF President Praful Patel would indeed be a happy man to see the way the AIFF has going ahead, ever since Patel got home the rights to host the Under 17 FIFA World Cup. The AIFF is going all guns blazing, especially after AIFF President Praful Patel got home the rights to host the Under 17 FIFA world Cup, to be conducted in 2017. After the introduction of the Grassroots courses across India, the Bengaluru FC has come up with ideas, to back the program. Bengaluru FC, on Tuesday, announced the launch of the Bengaluru FC Soccer Schools - the club’s newest venture aimed at promoting and supporting football at the grassroots level. COO Mustafa Ghouse, Head Coach Ashley Westwood, Head of Youth Development Richard Hood and striker Robin Singh provided the blueprint for the soccer schools, the first of which is all set to start on the 20th day of April in Bellandur. According to sources, this is the Bengaluru FC’s third property after the BFC Bazaar and FC Day Out. According to sources, these schools will be providing training; thereby imparting modern methods of football coaching. Kids under the age group of 7, 9 and 11 will be an integral part of these schools, the design of which has been laid out by the coaching staff. Mr. Ghouse, who was present at the launch, said that this probably was the first step to the growth of the sport in Bengaluru. He further added that the concerned authorities would be further looking forward to expand this, thereby making way for a chain of schools, for the overall promotion of the sport in the city.

Prior to this, only Cricket occupied a major position in the country, when it came to the sporting events. However, with the introduction of the training schools and grassroots facilities, football in India would gain equal prominence and fame, in the years to come. In one of his interviews with the media, NCP Leader Praful Patel had also mentioned that he wanted to do to football, what IPL (Indian Premiere League) had done to world cricket. Just like the IPL was a launch pad for the budding talent, the Under 17 world Cup could as well spear head an era of revolutions in India, in terms of football. These schools will be providing two to three session every week, with designated days for practice games. The good news is that the players, who managed to stand out during the training process, will also avail a chance to get a look in to the club’s Elite Academy. Mr. Singh, who himself is a product of the TATA football Academy gave his views on these schools and grassroots programs. Here’s what Mr. Singh had to say. “I’ve come through an academy myself and completely understand the importance of one if you are to develop as a player. It’s wonderful to be part of a club that is promoting the grassroots at the right age and the future is surely bright for the children who are part of the program”.

Mr. Parth Jindal, who happens to be the CEO of the Bengaluru football Club that the fresh talent from these schools will also go on to represent clubs and then the country, one day. What was heartening to see was the amount of promise that Mr. Jindal showed through his words. Regardless of what happens in the years to come; it is indeed encouraging to see the Indian football taking up so many activities, for the promotion of the sport in the country. It seems that Heavy Industries Minister Praful Patel has intent in all that he does, for the promotion of football in India. Towards the end of his speech, Mr. Jindal also spoke about the outcome of these schools that have been opened up in favor of the sport. “The Soccer Schools will also be a testament to the professionalism Bengaluru FC as a club, is striving to achieve. Through the soccer school programs the club hopes to mould young talent with the ultimate desire of creating players who will go on to not only represent BFC but also the country. There will be no greater moment for the club if our dreams are converted to reality. This is the start of something that is very close to our hearts and is a project that is going to form the cornerstone of our efforts.”
